Licensed HVAC Service Technician (Journeyman)

Location: Rhode Island & Eastern Connecticut
Position Type: Full-Time

Role Overview

Beaver River Heating & Cooling is seeking a licensed HVAC Service Technician (Journeyman) to handle residential and light commercial service work across Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut. This role is service-focused and diagnostic in nature, not sales-driven.

You’ll work independently on most calls, supported by a small, experienced team. The expectation is simple: show up prepared, diagnose accurately, communicate clearly, and complete work to a high standard.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair residential HVAC systems

  • Troubleshoot gas, oil, and heat pump systems (ducted and ductless)

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and corrective service calls

  • Clearly explain findings and recommendations to homeowners

  • Document work completed using company service software

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site and service vehicle

  • Coordinate with the office and field team as needed

  • Follow all safety practices, manufacturer guidelines, and state/local codes

Required Qualifications

  • Active HVAC Journeyman license (Rhode Island and/or Connecticut)

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on HVAC service experience

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability

  • Solid understanding of residential HVAC systems

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Preferred Experience

  • Oil and gas-fired systems

  • Heat pumps and mini-split systems

  • Hydronic systems

  • Preventative maintenance programs

  • Residential service environments

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday

  • Occasional overtime during peak heating or cooling seasons

  • Primarily residential service calls

  • No high-pressure sales quotas or commission-based expectations
